Tacit Approval Of Bear Poking...And Its Consequences
The human tragedy that we know as war is now upon us. This week Russia invaded Ukraine and much footage is available to see how horrible warfare is. Nevertheless, the drums of its siren song have started to beat, encouraging action to ostensibly stop Vladmir Putin's aggressive moves. It matters not that the United States is in no position to engage Russia in military contest. The agents of the black nobility that have control of Western governments have different ideas about what your country should be doing, and that doesn't always include what's good for it.
For at least a decade now, U.S. and NATO actions have continually provoked and antagonized Putin and the Russian government. Efforts to manipulate and even overthrow the Ukrainian government, as well as incentivize Ukraine to join NATO, have put the far from good natured Putin into a difficult position. Ukraine is in Russia's back yard and many of its citizens identify as Russian. It has some of the most fertile soil in the world. It is strategically located with respect to trade. Western influence in its government is something that Putin views as a threat, and given the behavior of the U.S. and its allies in over the past two decades [Iraqi and Syrian military actions under false pretenses, tough talk towards Iran, etc.], who can blame him.
Putin is not a good man, but neither is Biden, Trump, Obama or George W. Bush. What they all have in common is that they made the decision long ago to play dangerous games with power elites. Putin seems to be the most gifted in this pursuit, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't answer to interests that hold his life in the balance. In the United States, I feel safe in saying that the state apparatus has been completely captured. Decisions are made with respect to the interests of large stakeholders; the people's well being may or may not be relevant in that equation.
Right now, those stakeholders appear to want kinetic engagement between the U.S. and Russia. If this happens, it will be a disaster. It is hard to imagine a scenario where nuclear weapons are not used. It is also hard to imagine a scenario where at least one war theatre wouldn't be on American soil. This would be a total shock to the population who have never experienced this. This is probably why many in the American population support U.S. involvement in the conflict in the Ukraine. Unable to see beyond the end of their noses, the thought of fighting taking place in the streets of Los Angeles or at the Port of Baltimore is unimaginable for them. Yet it is a possibility that has a high probability of occurring should the elites get their way.
Given the amount of debt that Americans have, and the entitlement programs and pensions that are coming due for the older population, war is prescription for insolvency. At last glance the official U.S. national debt stood at over $30 trillion. Total U.S. debt exceeded $86 trillion. The national debt is now over 125% of gross domestic product. The country is broke and many are relying on insolvent retirement schemes to keep on living. That's why it's so advantageous for the power elites to kill them via a concocted war that was created by “poking the Russian bear”. In other words, Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, public and private pensions, etc. can be “let of the hook” if their beneficiaries die sooner rather than later. After all, if someone can draw on a pension that's financially unsound until they're 100 years old, it's in the pension's interest to have them die at 60....or earlier.
If you think that I'm being hyperbolic, just look at history and what people are capable of. In the U.S., we like to think of ourselves as “exceptional”--we're not. Humans are tempted by the easy way out no matter what their geographical location. If you have control of a nation's military like the United States', the scenario I described above suits your interests well--especially if you don't care about morality.
As for the rest of us, this madness can be stopped, but only if you get some guts, much like we witnessed recently among our Canadian neighbors. At least try ringing your Congressperson's phone off the hook; that's one place to start. Tell them “No!” to war. Tell them “No!” to any involvement in the Russia/Ukraine situation. If you'd been doing this all along, we wouldn't be here right now.
